The premise of minimum wage, when it was introduced, was that a single wage earner should be able to own a home and support a family. That was what it was based on; a full time job, any job, should be able to accomplish this.

The fact people scoff at this idea if presented nowadays, as though the people that ring up your groceries or hand you your burgers don’t deserve the luxury of a home and a family, is disgusting.

Also if a livable wage breaks the system then the system deserves to be broken.

i want to dance every day for the rest of my life, truly. dance is my one true love, and i honestly am so conflicted with whether or not i’ll ever be able to truly do what i want with it, and what’s actually in the realm of possibilities.

it’s hard grappling with the fact that classes are so expensive, and that i’ll never be as mobile in my hips or as flexible in general as is needed for professional dance. i beat myself up a lot over it. i’ve injured myself because i pushed too hard. my middle splits will never exist, i’ll never be able to straddle properly or do center leaps or various tilts, and only if i’m lucky will i actually get my right and left splits.

it’s hard watching talented dancers and feeling so connected yet so distant. i can only hope that in working hard i can improve on my own and bring joy to others. I want to look effortless when i dance, to float, to make it look easy. i keep telling myself i still have time. maybe one day i’ll get there. either way, one day i’ll make a difference in someone’s life over it. that’s all i really hope for.

Stop trying to force connections that aren’t all there, or telling yourself that maybe the reason love isn’t happening for you is because your expectations are too high. It’s not unrealistic to desire a partner that is attentive to your needs and wants, and who puts in the effort to not only get to know you, but keep you happy and feeling secure. Don’t compromise the things you value in a relationship for people who keep missing the mark. Your time could be much better spent. Some day someone is going to walk into your life and make you realize just why you should never settle, and they will be so bold and clear with their love that you’ll never have to think twice.

most of you know that my dream is to do music but my parents told me that i wasn’t allowed to pursue music because a pakistani muslim girl would never be able to be a musician so i decided to release the most personal song i’ve ever written called “don’t take me home” and i wanted to see if you guys would help me get this song on the soundcloud charts so it could get the attention of a record label because that would completely change my life.

you can do that by streaming the song, if each person listened to the song 10 times it would make a huge difference. you can mute it and then refresh it after 40 seconds which is how long it takes to count as a listen. also liking and reposting the song on soundcloud really help get it on the charts. and lastly sharing the song with blogs you’re friends with who you think would enjoy it. if you do those things that would mean the absolute world to me because i don’t really have anyone who believes in me but i hope that you will!
